Thomaz Elias
Third-Degree Black Belt
A Proven Lineage
Hélio Gracie & Rickson Gracie
Carlos “Caique” Elias
Thomaz Elias
Thomaz Elias is a third-degree black belt under his father, Carlos “Caique” Elias. His lineage traces directly through Hélio Gracie and Rickson Gracie, preserving an approach to Jiu-Jitsu built on precision, efficiency, control, and a deep understanding of fundamentals.
Thomaz has trained in Jiu-Jitsu his entire life. This library organizes that lifetime of learning and teaching into a clear system you can follow—whether you are stepping onto the mat for the first time or looking for details that will make your existing game more effective.
The Teaching Philosophy
I believe one of the foundations of Jiu-Jitsu is assuming that the person you need to control or defend against may be bigger, faster, stronger, and more athletic than you. Because of that, we should always look for better leverage, better positioning, and greater efficiency instead of depending on physical ability.
Simple does not mean easy. Simple generally means that a technique has fewer steps and avoids unnecessary movement. Some of the simplest movements in Jiu-Jitsu can also be the hardest to master. The goal is to make each technique as direct and efficient as possible, then put in the practice required to perform it well.
Gi, No-Gi, and Self-Defense
Jiu-Jitsu is a great form of self-defense and an amazing sport. This library covers Gi, No-Gi, and self-defense, but I do not treat them as three completely separate systems.
I try to keep my game as similar as possible across all three. The grips and circumstances may change, but the core movements, positions, and principles should remain familiar. This allows you to focus on fewer movements, spend more time refining them, and develop techniques you can rely on in different situations.
This is not an MMA program. The instruction remains focused on Jiu-Jitsu for sport and self-defense against an untrained attacker.
A Clear Path for New Students
The Beginner and Intermediate curricula guide new students from their first lesson through the foundation needed to enter the Advanced Library.
Designed for students with little or no Jiu-Jitsu experience. Learn the essential positions, movements, safety habits, and core principles needed to build a strong foundation.
18 structured classes
Build on the foundation by connecting techniques, understanding reactions, and learning to apply your Jiu-Jitsu against resistance during sparring.
25 structured classes
A broad collection for dealing with many different situations. Some movements are very simple, while others are much more complex. Advanced describes the foundation expected of the student—not the difficulty of every technique.
